About Elaine

Elaine is a professional music educator and performer. She has over 14 years of teaching experience and over 30 years of performing experience with both violin and fiddle. She studied music at Indiana University, holds a degree from Middle Tennessee State University, and has studied with well-known teachers including Paul Biss (retired from New England Conservatory).

Elaine is certified to teach both Suzuki and O’Conner violin methods. A versatile and accomplished performer, she has been a member of the Ft. Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra and has played with ensembles of various genres including the Bee Gees rock band and the Ray Charles Orchestra. She currently directs a jazz trio with well-known Nashville jazz guitarist Mel Deal, directs an Americana band, and appears regularly with Nashville singer/songwriter Everette Brown.

Elaine is also an award-winning fiddler, having placed second in the senior division of The Southeast Regional Fiddle Competition and third in the senior division of the Tennessee State Fiddle Championship.

Elaine loves teaching beginning and intermediate students. Of her teaching style, she says, “I love to bring the wonderful world of music to all students young and old. I tailor a lesson program to each student’s specific needs and wants in order to make lessons fun and engaging.”
